Job Summary:
A BSA/Compliance Officer is responsible for reviewing credit union policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all related laws and regulations applicable to the credit union. Recommend policy changes to senior management that will facilitate the credit union’s compliance program, reduce risk, and reflect changes in regulations. Update and disseminate information regarding laws and regulations.
Location:
The position is based at our Lewiston branch, located at 34 Bates Street. This is a full time position requiring 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- On an on-going basis, review laws and regulations that impact the credit union’s compliance requirements, with emphasis on Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, and OFAC.
- Evaluate the credit union’s policies, procedures, products, and programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Make recommendations for changes where appropriate.
- Disseminate information, answer questions, and be a subject matter expert for the credit union on all compliance-related issues.
- Responsible for completing the 314A report two times a month along with blocked accounts, rejected accounts, and annual report transactions.
- Assess risk potential of current procedures and institute new procedures that minimize loss exposure.
- Responsible for performing new account audits.
- Review revisions and/or design of forms, products, web site, programs, or promotions to ensure compliance with all State and Federal rules and regulations.
- Ensure implementation of record retention policies and procedures in accordance with regulations and laws.
- Monitors regulatory compliance of credit union services and provides appropriate staff training to ensure compliance.
- Responsible for responding to subpoenas, writs, garnishments, notices of freezes, death certificates, and other additional legal paperwork/activity.
- Responsible for performing quarterly branch audits.
- Ensure that CTR and SAR reporting is completed in the allotted time period and is in compliance with all State and Federal rules and regulations.
- Perform any other duties delegated by immediate supervisor or management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CUCE Certification preferred or 3-5 years of BSA/AML experience.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to pass a background check and credit check.
- Must be bondable.
